Pelvic, Hip, And Low Back Pain
Pain in these areas that comes and goes and may not respond to traditional physical therapy or medical interventions may be related to your pelvic floor. Physical therapy can help to improve pelvic floor relaxation, coordination, and/or strength. This can also help to address pain with sexual activity and/or penetration, sitting, and prolonged standing.
Urinary Incontinence & Frequency
Urinary incontinence is the loss of urine with coughing, sneezing, lifting, jumping, running, and uncontrollable urges. Frequency is feeling like you need to use the restroom even though you have recently gone, using the restroom greater than 5-8x daily. By improving the function of the pelvic floor and associated nerves, these urinary symptoms can be improved. This can be addressed even if it has been occurring for many years!
Prolapse
Physical therapy can assist with improving strength and control of pelvic floor musculature and can provide aids/supports in order to reduce sensation of heaviness and pressure in your pelvis.
Pelvic/Abdominal Surgery Postoperative Care
As with any surgery, recovery is a process. Postoperative physical therapy can help to improve scar tissue mobility, restore strength to the surrounding muscles, and improve function after surgery.
This includes, but is not limited to, care after Cesarean section, hernia repair, pelvic organ prolapse surgery, hysterectomy, and gender-affirmation surgery.
